Studio Guidelines
Terms & Conditions
I’ve done my best to keep this clear and easy to follow — please take a moment to read through. Not everything will apply to you, and what’s relevant may be spread throughout depending on the services you use.
Studio Use
The Chestnut Road Studio is not a gym. It's a small, intimate space that has a lot of visitors every week. We move around the space with courtesy for the next person, some of which have health issues, some of whom are elderly, but all, just like you, are here for the wellbeing of mind and body.
The space is in a converted cellar, so it is downstairs. You must be able to navigate stairs comfortably to participate in any of the group classes. Massages or one-on-ones are the exception; they can be moved upstairs into the living room if needed.
I do my best to create a safe space, but please remember that your lived experience may differ from the next person's; therefore, safety may not look the same to them as it does to you. Make no presumptions and move around the space mindfully.
On the subject of SECURITY:
-
Doors open 10 minutes before class, there's no need to arrive any earlier than that. Doors are locked at class start time, please arrive in time to get settled in.
-
If you are late and haven't sent Jo a DM, you're gonna get locked out!
On the subject of HEALTH, SAFETY & HYGIENE:
-
Use the handrails as you walk up or down the stairs.
-
Bare feet OR sticky socks in the studio please, definitely no shoes. Foot infections / skin damage MUST be covered / protected.
-
Reschedule your class/appointment if you are ill / contagious.
-
There is hand sanitiser provided, please use it.
-
Wipe the studio mat and equipment after use, using the cloths and spray provided. Just spray the cloth, there's no need to fumigate the room!
-
Using a bolster? Place the little sheets between you and it.
-
Leave everything for the next person as it was left for you.
On the subject of SHARING SPACE:
-
All personal belongings can be kept safely upstairs with your shoes and coats, only bring down what you need.
-
My bathroom is upstairs and available for use upon request. Close the lid before you flush. Hand soap is at the sink and a clean hand towel hangs on the inside of the door. Please leave the bathroom as you found it.
-
Small space = shared air! Let's keep it fresh without perfume or strong scents please!
-
Be aware of the energy you bring with you, check your ego at the door.
-
There will soon be hooks placed around the studio for your top layers, it's nicer than throwing your clothing on the floor, don't you think?
-
Even though your phone is upstairs, put it on silent or airplane mode anyway.
My needs as your TEACHER:
-
Take time to make sure the front gate is locked properly behind you.
-
For Pilates and Yoga, please wear clothing that allows me to see your alignment. Hoodies or heavy layers are not useful.
-
I'll demonstrate, and I'll use verbal cues, but at times I may need to use my hands to adjust you. LMK if you're not comfortable with this.
-
Access is through the front gate, then the side gate, to the back door.
-
I get a lot of visitors to the studio, please do not walk over the carpet in shoes, take them off on the mat. It should be clear where your stuff can be left, but if you're unsure please just ask.
Group Classes
Refund Policy:
I do not offer refunds, or give credit for unused classes. You are responsible for checking that your package, product, price, and dates are correct before completing your purchase.
Becoming a Member:
Select 'become a member' on the website to complete and submit a simple registration form.
Once received Jo will contact you to discuss your application and, if the studio has space will approve your request!
Purchasing a Group Classes Plan:
Studio members can choose and purchase a class plan with a start date that suits them. Some plans are one-off plans valid for one month from the start date, and some are subscriptions that renew automatically each month. Plans expire after 1 month, and any unused credits will be lost. You can cancel your plan in your account area.
Subscription / Auto-Renewal:
Monthly plans renew automatically each month. This is shown at the time of purchase. It is your responsibility to cancel before the renewal date. You can do this in your account any time up to the renewal date. If you need assistance please contact me at least 1 week BEFORE your renewal date.
Booking & Rescheduling Group Classes:
Log in to your account to book your classes. A minimum of 2 hours’ notice is required for rescheduling or class cancellation. Late cancellations will result in the loss of that class credit.
Rescheduling a Booked Service:
To retain your class pass, please provide at least 2 hours’ notice for cancellation / rescheduling.
Minimum Numbers:
Classes require a minimum of 2 participants. If only one person is booked 24 hours in advance, the class will be cancelled. If a class is cancelled for any other reason, you will be notified via email. In case of emergencies, where it may be very short notice, you may also receive a phone call or SMS.
Need to take a break from classes?
Packages can’t be paused once they’ve started. If you need a break (for example, planned holidays or school breaks), just book and attend your classes as normal, then let your current package expire (ensuring you cancel your subscription). You can then purchase a new package with a start date that suits you. Because class memberships are limited, a waitlist may be in effect. If you’re concerned about keeping your place in class, please chat to me in advance to see what options may be available; just try not to leave it until the last minute.
